Sunscapes

Nothing is new under the sun.

The life-giving energy and warmth of the sun has a positive effect on most living beings, inspiring great bursts of creativity and ingenuity. While I love and appreciate the changing, seasonal landscapes nature blesses us with, I am especially creative in sunny places. Sunny days and sunny places bring out the best in me. On my list of sun drenched places, there are parts of the African continent that have provided endless ideas for my art.

The African continent, a kaleidoscope of color, pattern, and light, is rich in human, natural, and cultural resources. The people, the animals, the natural environments, innovative arts and ideas, languages, and fashion are more diverse than anywhere else on planet Earth. Like many creative people, I never fail to find inspiration (spiritual, visual, and artistic) when I come in contact with African peoples and cultures. My aesthetic and creative impulses owe a lot to Africa.
